Essex Power President & CEO John Avdoulos was recently featured on ‘The 360 on Energy & Carbon’, a podcast hosted by 360 Energy Inc.
He discussed the Essex Power Group’s diverse array of energy products and services and its innovative projects, namely PowerShare.
He also reflected on Essex Powerlines’ transformation from a poles-and-wires company to an energy management services company. As the utility industry grapples with a variety of challenges and changes, the Distribution System Operator model will allow utilities to transform and adapt.
“We need to ensure that we’re investing in the right technologies, that we’re creating a fair and transparent system for resources to potentially be dispatched and compensated,” explained Avdoulos. “There has to be a migration path that eventually leads to a bidirectional system that can be adaptive and robust enough so that when utilities need electrons, they can request them and manage that flow and settle that with the asset owners.”
